Tyler represents businesses and individuals in high-stakes litigation. His primary focus is fighting for victims of financial fraud against professional services firms. But he also has experience with disputes involving contracts, partnerships, employment law, commercial, construction, oil and gas, bankruptcy, consumer law, and intellectual property.
Although Tyler has over a decade of trial experience in Texas courtrooms, he regularly practices in courts and arbitrations across the country. Tyler also briefs state and federal appellate courts on critical issues. Tyler brings to each case tenacity, attention to detail, and a spirit of competitiveness. He is also gifted at translating complex disputes using easy-to-understand language.
Tyler is a leading expert on tax shelter litigation. He regularly sues accountants, lawyers, and other professionals who abuse the trust of their clients to market and implement fraudulent tax shelters under the guise of legitimate and legal tax-reducing strategies. Since 2013 Tyler has helped recover over $100 million for victims of fraudulent tax shelters.
Before joining Deary Ray LLP in 2013, Tyler spent five years in the trial section of Baker Botts, L.L.P. He also had the privilege of interning for the Honorable Irma C. Ramirez, Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas where he gained a first-hand insight into federal court practice.
An Oklahoma native, Tyler now lives in Lucas, Texas with his wife (a fellow lawyer) and four children. He is active at Creekwood United Methodist Church, where he has served in various leadership positions and enjoys helping with the church’s adult special needs ministry. In his free time, Tyler snow skis, cooks Texas BBQ, reads nonfiction, and watches sports.
